My teenage daughter received a gift card from Hot Topic for Christmas so of course, we needed to head to the mall as soon as possible for her to spend it. Spend it she did. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like she got too much for her gift card even with all the sales and clearances posted in the mall.

While waiting for her to finish shopping, I did some checking of my own on sterling silver jewelry and costume jewelry prices at the mall versus an online jewelry store. For just about every item I looked at, the price was much cheaper online - including shipping charges if any. Many online stores offer free shipping for orders over a certain amount of money or jewelry coupon codes that will discount the order 5, 10, or eve 25% off the regular price.

The moral of the story is just because the store says their items are reduced or on clearance, often times your better buy is through an online store that doesn't have the high rent and overhead of a mall store.

Did you by chance catch pictures taken from the premier of "The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button?" I absolutely LOVED the old world Hollywood glamour of the celebrities who attended the event and loved the celebrity jewelry even more!

Of course you have to begin with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Brad looked positively stunning in a tux while Angelina selected a beautiful black gown - no jewelry. The couple were perfectly in sync.

Who did I absolutely love, love, love?? JENNIFER LOPEZ! She always looks amazing but she was drop dead gorgeous in a plunging white gown with earrings only - no necklace. Taking a cue from Ms. Lopez, sometimes less is more and it's best to let the dress do all the talking. She could have worn chandelier earrings with this dress for more oomph but she was absolutely on the money without any other interference around the necklace.
